Image
Hello it’s been a while it’s been pretty hectic around here that feeling like your running and can’t stop. Hopefully next week we have more time for self care (sewing) and catching up we must make time for ourselves you no your tried when you say yesterday but you mean tomorrow or buy Christmas cards and there 80 already under your bed brought in the sale in January lockdown and your memory is getting poor. Or you get the foot bowl out to soak your wary feet and it’s been there a week without doing them.  Being creative certainly helps your mental health everyone of there should make time for a little creative hour and keeps you thinking straight we are getting excited for our new sewing room we have been helping our daddy with the planning not long now to go. We had a trip to IKEA with mum to look at storage, desks and a cutting table which has a crank so it’s adjustable so no backpain and cutting against the wall is so annoying. We are hoping to be in there for Christmas s...

Sewing community and friends

Image
The sewing community and making friends with like minded people is the best. When we took the course to learn how to patchwork and quilt we was scared and anxious leaving college with a Btec in fashion and running a craft group with the elderly.  But we was sure we wanted to learn the techniques so we went in the small room with our machines and loved learning all the process of making a quilt we left there and one lady became close and we used to go to her house where she carried on the lesions and we made things together we are still firm friends.  Then we joined our local quilt group which we now help run and it’s wonderful to see speak to like minded ladies we have good fun sharing the passion together.  Some we visit patchwork/fabric shops together or share the mini bus to shows the moment of show and tell on the way home is the best of what you have brought. And usually our mega packed lunch with face wipes are shared between everyone if it’s been a hot day. ...

Have you ever thought about large print accessibility

Image
Large print accessibility  When looking for a blog provider it was really frustrating trying to look for a blog which we could use where our larger font apple provides worked and you didn’t have to zoom and lose the wording we was reading.  Many blog providers don’t think about the large print world and accessibility. Or if we want to read other bloggers or websites some are tiny and we have to navigate by zooming and sometimes it goes off so if you can add a print expanding button that would be fantastic. Or even change your font bigger.  Hope this helps the online world think of others who haven’t been got perfect vision.  We have had that question how do you sew with a visual impairment? We adapt and use pfaff machines which help us with our sewing. We use aids if we need too magnifying equipment, lightbox, self threading gadgets etc.  We will never get the opportunity to learn to drive but we are thankful we can use a sewing machine. And kindles are a...

Great for hands free quilting and piecing and sewers with arthritis in hands as no fiddly buttons to press. Great for visual impairments too as it’s all with touch from your foot no trying to see the buttons. It plugs into t...
