Mental health and being creative

Hello it’s been a while it’s been pretty hectic around here that feeling like your running and can’t stop.

Hopefully next week we have more time for self care (sewing) and catching up we must make time for ourselves you no your tried when you say yesterday but you mean tomorrow or buy Christmas cards and there 80 already under your bed brought in the sale in January lockdown and your memory is getting poor. Or you get the foot bowl out to soak your wary feet and it’s been there a week without doing them.

Being creative certainly helps your mental health everyone of there should make time for a little creative hour and keeps you thinking straight we are getting excited for our new sewing room we have been helping our daddy with the planning not long now to go. We had a trip to IKEA with mum to look at storage, desks and a cutting table which has a crank so it’s adjustable so no backpain and cutting against the wall is so annoying. We are hoping to be in there for Christmas so we can have our new sewing room Christmas tree up. And winter will be a breeze with more space and our long list of projects with the best machines loaned from pfaff uk and Cricut machine all accessible in one place.

With much more space.

We met up with our dear elderly sewing friend today she needed cheering up she said she was abit low and needed a chat so that’s what we did over lunch so we have a plan to help her sort out her sewing space in a few weeks as she has poor mobility and wants to get it organised so when she’s blue she can access her happy place and not feel sad and sew and quilt with ease. She’s the most beautiful soul grew up in care became a nurse had her boys after difficulties, we think she’s a warrior and now her main sewing is making quilts for project Linus for poorly children. We really have a good time together and listen to each other’s worries and share advice or sew together. We are lucky to have one and other to sew with. We are all happy our quilt group is back on meeting friends alike to chat sewing, do sewing and generally have a lovely day. Oh and we are huggers so if anyone at the meetings need a hug we are there.

We once got approached by a student at university that wanted a document on how sewing helps your mental health and we sent it to her and she was really pleased it helped her in her work and she passed her research assignment.

If in doubt take up a creative hobby it will help you with your self care and mental health and you might just really enjoy it.

There’s so many beautiful things to do whatever takes your fancy doesn’t have to be expensive ether.

Bye for now

Looking forward to more self care.
