Abit About us

Hello

We are Leeann and Kayleigh πŸ˜€πŸ˜€ known as @quiltingtwins on Instagram and to our friends and family we get a array of names “the girlies” “the girls” “the twins” “the girly whirlies” “the rainbow twins”

Which we really don’t mind being identical twins you have to be easy with the names if there pleasant thats what counts and believe us we had some unpleasant ones. And all the questions a million times over we have an idea for a wall quilt on this subject we must get it designed and made.

We attended a special educational school in seniors after a late diagnosis of our impairments it was the scariest time starting the brand new school but by the end it was hard to say goodbye amazing patient staff a big family then college was next in all subjects of creativity as that’s what we loved and found we was good at.

We have always been into Art crafts and Handmade since we can remember and after finishing college after starting from the bottom excess course in art and design we achieved our dream after five years of hard work we finishing a fashion design course. Oh boy it felt amazing one teacher really believed we could we owe him everything.

After all the work and support and final catwalk show he was cutting up squares from donated fabric and we said are making a patchwork quilt he said yes we ooooooh we would like to learn that. As the pattern drafting in garment we found really difficult.

So we left college helped and successfully ran a craft club for elderly and looked into private courses in patchwork and quilting we found a article in a quilting magazine and contacted the teacher and signed up to the course and that’s how it all started taking that plunge of another unknown and having abit of confidence to meet more new people and learn something totally different.

Now we have been sewing patchwork and quilting for 12 years and we are totally hooked and from our first quilt we have learnt so much and the addiction is real with all notions threads and fabric. Ha ha as our mum says there’s worst addictions! And we really believe a handmade gift is better then a brought one.

Recently we have taught ourselves how to make bags and the possibilities are endless.

We are part and help run a local quilting group we have over 30 members and it’s all fun and awesome being with like minded people and joining in on charity sewing, workshops, talk, traders, quilt show trips and of course we are popular as we are the bakers. 🧁 our rule is there’s always time for a tea break and cupcake.

So most days we sew it really helps our mental health and we are hungry to create the list is never a few lines it grows daily, and if we are not sewing you will find us in the garden or allotment another amazing outlet for our well being.

Recently we was asked by Pfaff Uk to join there ambassadors team “Pfaff family” A total shock to us as we never think we are as good as many of our Fellow sewing friends.

To help them review and promote there incredible brand review there products and to be there first ambassadors with a disability as they wanted to create a more diverse team within there brand.

And after many conversations we said yes.

We feel very privileged to work with a brand we have admired and loved for many years we have owned  many brands before we brought our first pfaff machines a few of our quilty friends over Christmas afternoon tea educated us.

pfaff uk has kindly loaned us the pfaff performance icon sewing machine with multi functional pedal and lots accessories so we will review here and tell you everything and share tips and tricks.

Hope you enjoyed reading abit about us and continue to follow our journey.
