Image
Post from summer 2022 pattern available from @and_sew_i ๐ŸŒˆYay the time has come we can now share this awesome quilt what a honour it was to be asked to test another pattern for Helen @and_sew_i a very talented designer friend we think she’s a inspirational lady with a talented mind. Called Unique-orn When we seen it we fell in love and thought this will be a challenge and the biggest full FPP pattern to attempt ๐Ÿฆ„ because of our visual impairment we went with the large one 60”x80” and started the planning right away then bought our fabrics at Malvern quilts uk then over two weeks every day sewn each section it’s super accessible with amazing introductions, diagrams, fabric Key and large fonts and numbers. Pieced and will be quilted with @aurifilthread ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿฆ„๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿฆ„ and we couldn’t have done it without our amazing Pfaff Machines IDT and FPP is a million times easier then other machines! ๐ŸŒˆ๐Ÿฆ„ Pattern Out on 1st July Two sizes and options for horse ๐Ÿด and Unique-corn ๐Ÿฆ„  thanks to all the test

Tessie of dog aka Diva Fluffy ball of love sewing room mascot

Image
This little diva is our gorgeous dog Tessie we can’t believe she is ten this year she is our first dog of our family and so very loved. She has had double leg surgery from early in her life as she was born with a dodgy knees bless her but we all nursed her through the surgery’s and she does well on her short walks and uses her dog pram when she gets tired.  She loves sleeping a lot and hanging out with us in the sewing room she’s occasionally cheeky when she stands by the draw where her favourite treats are and pokes her nose through the space where you pull open. But she gets us out for a daily walk gives us confidence and keeps us safe. ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿ’• On holiday she’s been all over the uk ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง France ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท Ireland ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช met other dogs on holiday and many people.  Sewing room buddy Sewing room sofa

Wagamama menu work accessible now for sight loss

Image
⭐️ ⭐️Positive Changes for the future… back in October 2022 we met up with our long time friend we all had so much to catch up on @stephstar87 We Went to @wagamama_uk together for lunch to sample there new large print menus it was a wonderful experience to be looked after by the manger Chris he was so kind and friendly we feel so proud to have been able to work alongside this brand and change for future generations. Whilst visiting back in February there was new menu it was inaccessible not only to us but to our other friend who had forgotten her glasses so we went with something we already had ordered without having to look but it got us thinking how accessibility is met but sight loss isn’t or thought about. So we dropped an email to the head office. Waited for reply and it wasn’t long they where so nice and so sorry that we couldn’t use there new menus and wanted us for a phone chat to address and make changes in there brand so we spoke with Max and he was so nice and accommodating

The rainbow ๐ŸŒˆ wall is a firm favourite with everyone the best recycling project ever saving a whopping two grand and it was made with teamwork of us all.  Tessie our dog loves the sewing room as much as us dad says because it’s warm with the stacks of insulation he added and big radiator. accessibility ambassadors on a mission to educate

Image
Accessibility is close to our heart,  When you live with disabilities and have friends with disabilities, you no some things or places aren’t accessible but everything, and all places should be accessible. It’s definitely improving in this modern world but we all need to reach out and educate. Education is the best gift when it comes to changes many people we see on social media platforms expect to be paid to educate which we think is wrong if you educate your not only doing it for yourself your also doing it for other people like yourself and for future lives. Exclusion happens if they don’t no or think of certain needs so no changes need to be made.  Being positive and reaching out in a positive way makes it all so much easier and makes you feel like you helped make positive changes.  Recently we visited a few restaurants over a few weeks and all of them had menus with tiny writing to read we was with friends who could read to us and one friend had forgotten her glasses so even she

Bridge quilters our local quilt group

Image
When we first attended our local Quilt group meeting 11 years ago after our course learning how to patchwork and quilt our teacher used to be a member and the groups shop with supplies. We was wracked with nerves going into a large church hall full of busy talented quilters we was thinking how will we settle and get as good as some of these. But having the same passion was all you needed we sat down and people came by and had a chat and asked what we was working on and did we enjoy the course. Fast forward 11 years we really look forward to the two meetings a month with the bridge between the towns hence the name Bridge Quilters one meeting is held in Widnes then the other is held across the bridge in Runcorn. We have had many venues since it begun and many members come and go but we think we have a wonderful group and community now over 30 members 7 new members since lockdown we are all friendly welcoming and there for the fun laughter education, quilty fabric talk, laughter, compan
